| Overview : Promoting energy efficiency and conservation is critical to ensuring effectiveness of RE implementation. Energy efficiency is a measure of the savings of energy which is used to produce goods and services while maintaining the desired benefits. Conservation is the reduction in the amount of energy consumed in a process or system through economy, elimination of waste, and rational use.
Reducing energy demand through increased conservation and efficiency is a least cost approach to offset the additional cost of RE. This is also the most practical and in some cases readily implementable means of reducing the use of non-RE resources and thereby extending the lifespan of these resources.
The development of the country’s RE resources is considered an important element in achieving sustainable growth.On one hand, allowing solar energy systems is key to reducing dependency of energy demand.On the other hand systems will open up new job markets for the local development, manufacture, installation and maintenance of these systems. |
