Overview :

UNDP Viet Nam seeks 04 individual national consultants including a team leader, an expert to study on policies, an expert to study on international experience and an expert to review and analyze the status, who will provide inputs for development of the draft national program for natural resources usage and management for project : “Strengthening Capacity on Natural Resources and Environment Policy Development and Environmental Performance (NREP)”

Thanks to Doi Moi, Vietnam has achieved significant economic growth during the last two decades and was recognized as a middle income country in 2009. The resulting effect of this economic development is the strong decrease in poverty throughout the country.

However, this economic development has been largely depending on heavy exploitation of natural resources. Water resource has been abused. Natural forests have been cut down for wood products or hydro electricity production. Fish resources have been severely depleted while mineral resources have been over exploited. For sustainable development purpose, it is essential to ensure that renewable natural resources are used at an appropriate quantity within its renewable limitation while non-renewable resources should be exploited adequately in consideration of future needs and its profit should be used effectively for socio-economic development.

UNDP and ISPONRE therefore are looking for 04 individual national consultants to provide technical inputs for the Draft National Program of natural resources usage and management.

The objective of this assignment is to study the policy, concepts, current status and international experiences on effective management and sustainable use of natural resources and provide inputs for the development of the draft national program of natural resources usage and management.

Each consultant is required to for estimated 30 working days during the period November 2013 – February 2014.
