Overview : As part of the country programme action plan (CPAP), 2013-2015, UNDP Malaysia will continue to support the government of Malaysia in strengthening its climate resilient development. It will seek to address institutional and policy challenges related to environmental concerns which will focus on: (a) enhancing national, sub-national and local capacities to ensure integrated biodiversity management, conservation and sustainable utilization of natural resources which also address the needs of women, indigenous and local communities and poor and vulnerable groups in line with Global Aichi targets on Biodiversity. The focus will be on strengthening institutional capacities with particular emphasis on integrated water resource management, energy and food security with the aim of achieving sustainable development; (b) supporting the implementation of climate change mitigation related policies through increasing the use of renewable energy and strengthening the adopting of energy efficient practices; and c) developing frameworks on sustainable financing options for wide-spread green technology application through the low carbon cities’ initiatives and effective management of biodiversity endowments in Sabah, Sarawak and the Central Forest Spine in Peninsular Malaysia. Inline with the above, UNDP Malaysia seeks qualified Malaysian to assist the providing inputs related to the climate change mitigation initiatives and as per the below “Scope of Work”. This is a medium level short-term position and will require the person to be knowledgeable of the subject matter within the Malaysia’s context.
