CTIC Website TOR - revised
ANNEX I - CTIC Website Design Price Proposal
P11 PERSONAL HISTORY FORM
Overview : ***Please note, this notice is being re-advertised; if you submitted a proposal under RFQ140623, you are required to resubmit as TOR has been revised*** During the last 500 years 105 tsunami events were reported in the Caribbean and adjacent regions, and many of these tsunamis caused incalculable loss of life and damage to property. With burgeoning populations centres along vulnerable coastlines, the risk exposure which the Caribbean and adjacent regions face without a coordinated and comprehensive tsunami mitigation programme is magnified. If left unchecked, in the event of a tsunami impact these circumstances will result in the loss of lives and widespread destruction drawing significantly on public finances and undermining the capacity of the private sector to sustain investment and growth. The establishment of the Caribbean Tsunami Information Centre (CTIC) is a crucial pillar towards the development of a coordinated, comprehensive, regional end-to-end tsunami and other coastal hazards warning system for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions (CARIBE EWS). The development of a website will support other CTIC initiatives to ensure that all persons in vulnerable coastal communities are prepared and respond appropriately and in a timely manner to save lives and mitigate impacts upon recognition that a potentially destructive tsunami or another coastal hazard may be approaching. The website development is being facilitated through CTIC, UNESCO/IOC and UNDP Barbados and the OECS.
