Overview : The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. Volunteerism is a powerful means of engaging people in tackling development challenges, and it can transform the pace and nature of development. Volunteerism benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening trust, solidarity and reciprocity among citizens, and by purposefully creating opportunities for participation. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for recognition of volunteers, working with partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing an increasing number and diversity of volunteers, including experienced UNV volunteers, throughout the world. UNV embraces volunteerism as universal and inclusive, and recognizes volunteerism in its diversity, as well as the values that sustain it: free will, commitment, engagement and solidarity. At the heart of UNV’s work is the commitment to increase the integration and recognition of the catalytic role volunteerism plays to engage people from all walks of life in national and international development efforts and peace. The contribution of volunteerism to development is particularly striking in the context of sustainable livelihoods and value based notions of well-being, because volunteering enables people to become responsible actors in their own development. Volunteerism is one of the most basic expressions of solidarity and societal cohesion, often arising out of long-established traditions of sharing and reciprocal exchanges. All UNV communications are directed at supporting these objectives. The essential message we are sending is that volunteerism benefits society at large and the individual volunteer by strengthening solidarity and reciprocity among citizens. It can transform the pace and nature of development and peace initiatives. This is inspiration in action. UNV has the advantage that the United Nations is a well-known organization, so the name United Nations Volunteers is easily recognizable and classifiable, also for the general public. Partnering mainly with UN entities and governments as well as civil society organizations, UNV’s brand awareness among its main associates needs to be verified. As for brand loyalty, perceived quality and distinctive brand associations, research is needed through a survey and follow up interviews. The objective of the project is to establish what brand changes need to be made to make sense of the UNV’s values and role and ensuring the organisation’s offering and image is distinctive in the minds of partners. And then designing and producing guidelines and policies for the implementation of this repositioning of the brand. More detailed information available in attached RFP and TOR.
