Overview : The Syria conflict has proven to be a complex crisis affecting a number of neighboring countries. Jordan is currently hosting the second largest number of Syrians of the affected neighboring countries. As of May 2014, over 630,000 Syrians had been registered or were awaiting registration with UNHCR.
The current scale of the response and different programmatic avenues require additional UNDP capacity to organize the massive amount of information generated daily from all the programmes throughout the country. In addition, it is crucial for this information to be readily maintained and disseminated to other relevant UNDP and UN programmes, as well as to the GoJ and donors, in a timely and consistent manner for evidence-based decision making and effective programmatic response.
The UNDP Country Office in Jordan is developing and rolling-out new information and analytical tools, and the requirements in term of information and analysis is becoming crucial and requires a dedicated staff member to strengthen our current programming. |
