Overview : Climate variability and its impacts have been increasingly noticed on people’s livelihood and environment, and it is likely to be exacerbated in a changing climate. The rural communities’ existence is mainly based on traditional agriculture production system for their livelihood. The existing poverty further compounds these risks. Climate Risk Assessment (CRA) and integrated watershed management plan will help understand the nature, triggers, patterns of occurrence and the disaster cycle associated with different types of hazards as well as climate variability indicators. The assessment of climate risk on lives, livelihoods, habitations/ settlements, infrastructure, community, individual and socioeconomic assets will give a broader understanding and in-depth picture of the climate risks in the Sot-Khola sub-watershed. The community based CR Assessment provides the disaster and socio-economic baseline, which will be useful to further develop integrated watershed management plans/projects and their implementation through multi- stakeholders’ participation. This ToR defines the overall responsibilities of the assessment team and the support expected from district GoN experts as part of the assessment team for conducting the Climate Risk Assessment and the Integrated Watershed Management Plan of Sot-Kola sub-watershed, Surkhet. The detailed responsibilities of the experts from the GoN agencies and the outsourced consultants will be further defined in the district meeting that will be held after the scoping visit. This draft version will help to guide the scoping mission and will be finalized as a ToR for each assessment team member.
