Overview : The Joint Programme for Gender Equality (JPGE) seeks to contribute to gender equality and women’s empowerment in Zimbabwe. This program was developed in close consultation and collaboration with the government of Zimbabwe, with the Ministry of Women Affairs, Gender and Community Development being the main government counterpart in this program. The JPGE brings together UN development agencies, development partners and different gender equality advocates to support the advancement of gender equality and the empowerment of women. The JPGE has been developed within the framework of the current Zimbabwe United Nations Development Framework (ZUNDAF) 2012-2015, which is aligned to government priorities on women’s empowerment and gender equality in ZUNDAF Outcome 7.1 . The new development framework (2016-2020), which is being developed, also continues a strong commitment to advancing gender equality, women’s rights and women’s empowerment. |
