| Overview : Ethiopia is endowed with a variety of alternative energy resources such as hydro, biomass, solar, wind, and geothermal. However, they are not in use as abanduntly as is the case with their availability. Developing these resources nevertheless, has a considerable economic, social and environmental implication to Ethiopia. Morevoer, it has a significant contribution to attain government set goals such as GTP, CRGE and the like. Thus, it is of utmost interest to Ethiopia to build capability in the localization of alternative energy technologies. For this reason, with support of UNDP and Norwegian Government CRGE Programme Component - Strengthening Capacities for Increased Access to Sustainable Energy, Enhancing Cpacity of Workshop and Laboratory Project was formed. The duration of the Project is for 1 and 1/2 years, commencing as of July 2014 GC. The main objective of the project is is to harness alternative energy resource potential of the country broadly, as an instrument to bring about improvement to the socio-economic and environemental condition of the country. The immediate objective is to build local manufacturing capability of the Workshop and Laboratory (of MoWIE) to assist broader localization of alternative energy technologies Required Supply Nine Workshop machinaries with accessories, attachments and spareparts is required to be procured. In a nutshell, there is an experience in the production and testing of bio-energy technologies, solar cooker, hydro turbines, wind turbines and other modern energy technologies in the W&L. However, their quality particularly to energy efficiency and aestathic appeal, which is a core element for the Minisry and the consumer is a missing factor on the present level of prototype production. Thus, procurement of essential W&L equipments and machineries is important to improve quality. Procurement of model AETs also vital to assists adoption and adaptation.
