Overview :

The Department of Energy in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry and The United Nations Development Programme, is implementing an energy efficiency Standards and Labelling (S&L) Programme aimed at reducing electricity demand for the residential sector in South Africa.

The programme will also introduce incentives to drive the uptake of energy efficient appliances. This will be a continuation of a study conducted during 2014/15 to identify potential incentives for the programme.

The Service Provider is required to conduct a cost-benefit analysis and evaluate the feasibility of implementing the proposed incentive schemes for energy efficient electrical appliances, develop a business case that includes the institutional arrangement and a sustainable funding model, and develop a project plan to pilot the preferred incentive scheme/s.
