Overview : Request for Proposal for Consultancy services for the update of the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan for Mauritius 2015 – 2020 for the Project ID 00087316: National Biodiversity Planning to Support the Implementation of the CBD 2011-2020 Strategic Plan in Mauritius The main objective of this consultancy is: The NBSAP is revised/updated and it fully integrates new aspects of the CBD strategic plan, such as mainstreaming and anchoring the implementation of the plan into national development frameworks, valuing ecosystem services and promoting ecosystem-based adaptation and resilience. The updated NBSAP shall become the Government’s strategic framework for all aspects related to biodiversity for 2016-2025. The scope of services shall include five parts: - Consultation process for national target setting and production of an updated NBSAP 2016-2025 including costed and prioritised action plans, monitoring and evaluation framework and needs assessments on capacity, technology and finance; and a strategy for resource mobilization for its implementation;
- A study on Ecosystem Valuation in the Republic of Mauritius;
- A study on advances in sectoral mainstreaming of biodiversity in Mauritius;
- A study on the incorporation of challenges and opportunities linked to Ecosystem-Based Adaptation and Resilience within Mauritius’ protected area network and;
- The development of a functional CHM for Mauritius based on best international practice on the matter.
The team shall comprise of four profiles of experts which are as follows: - Expert in Biodiversity Management, Planning and Monitoring and in Cross-sectoral Mainstreaming (Team Leader)
- Expert in Ecosystem services valuation and biodiversity
- Expert in Ecosystem-Based Adaptation and Resilience
- Expert in web development and web-based applications and online systems
Duration of the assignment/time frame: The assignment shall be completed within 75 person days spread over four months in accordance with the schedule for the submission of the deliverables including a minimum of 2 missions for the water evaluation expert. The missions shall be envisaged in accordance with projected milestones. Deadline of Submission: 10 December 2015 at 16:00 hours local time. |
