Overview :

The UNNATI Programme is being implemented in Nepal with funding support from the Government of Denmark. The overall objective of the programme is to promote sustainable and inclusive growth that aims to reduce poverty and raise the living standards of poor people in Nepal.

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) is implementing the UNNATI - Access to Finance (A2F) which is one of the sub- components of the UNNATI program, with technical support from the UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF). The objective of UNNATI- A2F is to enable access to financial services for an additional 250,000 clients, out of which 150,000 are smallholder farmers and Small and Medium Enterprise (SMEs). One of UNNATI’s access to finance interventions is the Expanding Financial Frontiers Challenge Fund (EFF).

EFF provides matching grants through a competitive bidding process where the best applications are selected. EFF’s support aims to target new ideas, products, and business models with (perceived) high risks. EFF invites interested institutions to present ideas to scale up their financial inclusion agenda or to present new and innovative concepts and business models in Nepal. EFF is looking at projects with a potential to be replicated throughout Nepal that adds value, meets market demands and fulfils market gaps. EFF will pay special attention to reducing discrimination of women and traditionally marginalized groups.

EFF invites the Expression of Interests (EoI) from financial institutions (A, B, C, D class, insurance companies, and financial cooperatives), non-bank financial institutions licensed by NRB, ICT service providers, meso -level organizations and businesses (together with a financial institution) to submit their concept note.
