Overview : The National Tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) program of the Ministry of Health has been tasked with the job of leading the health response in TB, HIV/AIDS and other STIs. One of the core functions of the program is the development of policies, norms, standards and protocols for the adequate management of TB, HIV/AIDS and other STIs at both the national and regional levels. It is the intention of the National Aids Program (NAP) to revise and standardize the national HIV guidelines so that every single client affected by and living with HIV receives a standard set of test, and services in his life time. The management of HIV is dynamic and therefore newer technology in the diagnosis and care have recently been introduced in Belize which must be reflected in our daily management of these patients as well as those who are at risk and are affected by HIV/AIDS. |
