| Overview : Under the Government of Mauritius/ UNDP/ GEF “Expanding coverage and strengthening management effectiveness of the Protected Area Network (PAN) on the island of Mauritius” project, a Technical Needs Assessment (TNA), was carried finalised in October 2015. The TNA identified the desired skills and competence standards required for effective protected area planning, development and management at the different occupational levels within the PA agencies. Current skills base and competence levels were assessed and gaps were identified. These prioritised gaps provide the basis for the content of the proposed institutional skills development and training programme for the Protected Area (PA) agencies to be implemented under the PAN Project.
