| Overview : UNDP Gambia aims to strengthen its capacity to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, in line with the UNDP Gender Equality Strategy (GES) 2014-2017. The Country Office has been supporting the government in promoting gender equality. Given the prominent place gender has in UNDP and the increased emphasis on gender at all levels, the Country office intends to develop the country office gender strategy in full alignment with the corporate GES. This Strategy will be implemented 2016-2021 period. The Country Office (CO) is participating in the Gender Equality Seal, a corporate quality assurance mechanism that measures and certifies the achievements and competence of UNDP Country Offices in advancing women's rights and gender equality. As part of these efforts, UNDP Gambia intends to develop a Gender Equality Strategy (2016-2021) and action plan to promote the integration of gender equality and women’s empowerment in its policies, operations and programming. In the light of the above, a consultant is needed to support the CO to develop a well aligned Gender strategy that will guide the process of gender mainstreaming in the implementation of the new Country Programme Document CPD) for the next five years.
