Pre-Bid Meeting Minutes
Overview :

Since the outbreak of conflict in South Sudan in 2013, and notwithstanding the power sharing agreement of August 2015, regional instability continues to have far reaching implications and consequences. Particular challenges include a high influx of refugees in Adjumani district whereby UNHCR registered 30,000 refugees between the months of January and May 2016 while their projected refugee reception for the same year was 38,000. The increasing pressure that the high influx of refugees has on the host communities poses a threat to democracy, peace, socio-economic stability and human development. Youth and women are the most vulnerable, with high levels of unemployment and lack of sources of income. In addition to the high influx of refugees, the protracted nature of the crisis calls for more support for self-reliance and resilience building of refugees in the settlements to cope with the situation with dignity as well as livelihood development for host communities to deal with the rising prices of goods and services.
