| Overview : The Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is carrying out an ‘Evaluation of the UNDP Strategic Plan, Global Programme, and Regional Programmes (2014-17).’ The evaluation is part of the IEO medium-term plan (DP/2014/5) approved by the Executive Board in January 2014. The evaluation will assess the contribution of the country programmes, Global Programme, and Regional Programmes in achieving the development results outlined in the Strategic Plan, as well as the institutional mechanisms used by UNDP to facilitate its programming.
The evaluation will also assess UNDP’s contribution to South-South and Triangular Cooperation and the work of the organization to promote important principles such as gender equality and women’s empowerment. Given the salience of the function of the UN Resident Coordinator at the country level, the evaluation will also assess UNDP’s role and contribution in facilitating this function. A synthesis report of the evaluation will be presented to the Executive Board at the second regular session in June 2017, along with separate summary reports covering key findings.
