Under the project “Mitigating the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordanian vulnerable host communities” UNDP is implementing a programme to support Integrated Social Cohesion & Conflict Prevention through implementation of community cohesion projects and initiatives in 5 targeted governorates per UNDP’s signed MoU with the Government of Jordan, as follow: Irbid, Mafraq, Zarqa, Tafileh and Ma’an, where UNDP will announce a call for proposal targeting CBOs/NGOs in the targeted governorates to implement community projects and initiatives aiming at supporting social cohesion in local communities.

Under UNDP’s social cohesion project component, the Community Cohesion Grant Mechanism (CCGM) was developed and a call for proposal was launched under phase I, targeting Zarqa, Irbid and Mafraq. Qualified CBOs/NGOs were selected and implementation of projects to start in October 2016.

This project aims to:

  • Strengthen social cohesion in the targeted governorates through CBOs/NGOs participation and implementation of social projects and initiative with local community members;
  • Build the capacity of local NGOs/CBOs in planning, implementing and managing projects.
