Overview :

Uganda demonstrated commitment to the United Nations Framework on Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC) and other international policy regimes by implementing activities towards reducing emissions from deforestation, reducing emissions from forest degradation, conservation of forest carbon stocks, sustainable management of forests and enhancing forest carbon stocks (REDD+). Uganda became a participant of REDD+ in 2008 and in 2009 received a first US$200,000 Grant (Formulation Grant) through Forest Carbon Partnership facility (FCPF) of the World Bank to prepare a REDD+ Readiness Preparation Proposal (R-PP). The Formulation grant was supplemented by Norwegian Government financing of US$183,500 for targeted consultations with decentralized stakeholder groups, including forest dependent communities. Uganda’s REDD+ R-PP was approved in May 2012 commenced implementation of the REDD+ R-PP in 2013. Uganda received financial support of US$3,634,000 from FCPF of the World Bank on July 10, 2013 to prepare REDD+ readiness activities. Additional support to the REDD+ Readiness Preparation Grant Agreement was received from the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) of US$ 890,797, the UN-REDD Targeted Support of US$ 150,000, UN-REDD grant of US$ 1,798,670, additional UN-REDD Backstopping support of US$ 35,000 and Government of Uganda (GoU) contribution of US$ 1,088,000.UN-REDD-UNDP component is implementing activities contributing to achieve outcome 1 that is aimed at ensuring a transformational national REDD+ strategy that is designed through substantial multi-sectorial technical and policy dialogue, including robust policy options and measures, mainstreamed and anchored in national development vision, planning and framework.As part of these efforts, the UN REDD secretariat/UNDP Uganda intends to hire the services of an experienced graphics design individual/firm to assist in layout and design a synthesis report on issues and options for REDD+ in private and community owned forests in Uganda. The individual/firm needs to have be creative staff with excellent design skills, a keen sense of colour and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Additionally, the individual/firm needs to deliver the edited publications on time.
