Overview : RFQ -138/16 Supply of Office Furniture and Install Equipment for Community Center, MPH in Kurani Ainkawa, Erbil BACKGROUND The project Improving the Housing Delivery System in Erbil is supporting the improvement of Kurani Ainkawa neighborhood, a poor, informally developed settlement at the center of Erbil City. As part of this neighborhood improvement support, UNDP in partnership with the UN-Habitat constructed the Multi-Purpose Community Hall (MPH) building. The MPH dedicated for women and children of this neighborhood. The community-based organization, named “Kurani-Ainkawa Multi-Purpose Centre (KAMPC)” was established to manage the Multi-purpose Hall and registered as a legal entity by the Directorate of NGO in March 2013. The functional capacity of KAMPC has been strengthened by UNDP’s support through the Iraq Crisis Response and Resilience program (ICRRP) provided capacity development program for KAMPC staff and board members to operate the MPH building actively. The capacity building program focused on the administration, financial and management issues. ICRRP has been supporting KAMPC to conduct various community activities and strengthen the capacities of women of KA community in the Socio-economic development within the neighborhood, and mobilizing the local community to effectively participate in vocational training and enhance livelihood of the inhabitants. In the mid-July 2016, following the completion of the MPH and associated processes of Government’s technical inspection and Handover, the NGO, partner KAMPC has moved to their new building MPH to continue providing the livelihood activities supported ICRRP to build the community’s ownership, team spirit in the society and trust in the MPH project. On 2 August 2016, the End-User, Erbil Governorate submitted official request to UNDP to furnish the MPH with the necessary items from Office Furniture, IT Equipment and an Electrical Generator. The letter was received with the Bill of Quantities (BOQs) which was reviewed by UNDP for cost estimates and specifications. The BOQ was endorsed by the project beneficiary, KAMPC (attached is the Government’s request letter with endorsed BOQs, and internal estimation). |
