Overview : The Global Environment Facility (GEF) approved a five year project for South Africa through its Department of Energy. The project, entitled “Market Transformation through Energy Efficiency Standards & Labeling of Appliances in South Africa” was implemented from September 2011 to September 2016. The project has recently been extended for completion in October 2017. Whilst the project is GEF-funded and managed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the lead executing agency for the project is the Department of Energy, together with other co-implementing stakeholders UNDP is therefore looking for a Project Manager (PM), who will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operational implementation of the S&L Project, including being responsible for all project reporting and administrative matters. The PM will be supported by the Project Financial Administrator. All work of the PM will be carried out in line with the UNDP Country Program Action Plan and in full compliance with GoSA and UNDP Rules and Regulations. Project management and coordination will be pursued through the undertaking of appropriate actions in program formulation, implementation and evaluation as per GEF guidelines. To this end, the PM will be supported by UNDP and DoE on project performance reporting and quality assurance in the lead up to the project’s Terminal Evaluation (an independent activity), as well as any other project close-off activities. |
