Background

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the UNV Office in New York, and under matrix supervision of the Communications Specialist within the Programme Coordination Section, the consultant will carry out the tasks described below, with an emphasis on UNV’s interactions with the interagency and intergovernmental environment for youth volunteerism.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Support strategic planning, programming and partnership building for youth volunteering and youth-related initiatives in line with the UN Youth Volunteers Programme, with a specific focus on inter-governmental and interagency relations.
  • Identify and strengthen relationships with New-York based main partners related to youth volunteerism and youth in general in line with Programme priorities
  • Effectively use evidence based information gathering on youth volunteering and support development into advocacy products and projects for resource mobilization / partnership development;
  • Gather donor intelligence and mapping of relevant partners. Contribute to conceptualization and realization of resource mobilization material. Contribute to development of social media packages.
  • Support all other elements for positioning UNV / volunteerism on interagency and inter-governmental discussions on youth – including working directly with youth groups at the global level, when appropriate.
  • Support UNV-HQ in the coordination of youth activities with country and regional offices.
  • Undertake other interagency / inter-governmental tasks for UNV ONY, as required.
