| Overview : UNDP’s Montreal Protocol/Chemicals Unit (MPU) has assisted partner developing countries access over $600 million in funding from the Multilateral Fund (MLF) for the Implementation of the Montreal Protocol and over $30 million from the GEF to eliminate ozone depleting chemicals. UNDP support has assisted 124 countries avoid over 68,000 tons of ozone-depleting substances. MPU is implementing HCFC Phase-out Management Plans (HPMPs) in over 30 countries to eliminate HCFCs in the refrigeration and foam sectors, controlled under the Montreal Protocol, also significantly contributing to global climate mitigation efforts. MPU provides technical and policy advisory services, and supports capacity-building, technology transfer, technical assistance and training, thereby helping transform markets through cleaner and more efficient manufacturing processes and products. These efforts form an essential part of helping countries make progress towards a low carbon economy and support the achievement of sustainable development. 2017 marks the 30th Anniversary of the adoption of the Montreal Protocol in 1987. In order to highlight UNDP’s work in support of the Protocol as well as its strategy for the implementation of the recently adopted Kigali Amendment, UNDP-MPU plans to prepare a publication and organize a Side Event to launch it at the 29th MOP that will be held in Montreal, Canada from 20 to 24 November 2017. A company is being sought to assist UNDP-MPU in preparing the needed technical documentation and case studies and presenting it in a glossy cover report, and in organizing and making presentations at this side event. Objective The objective of this assignment is to - prepare a public relations type report to highlight UNDP/MPU results/achievements covering new developments since the previous UNDP/MPU report on the Montreal Protocol published in 2014, including strategic analysis of linkages with the Sustainable Development Goals, and the contribution that the Montreal Protocol’s Kigali Amendment would make to mitigating climate change; and
- organize and make presentations at the Side Event to be held during the 29th Meeting of the Parties (MOP) of the Montreal Protocol in Montreal, Canada during 20-24 Nov. 2017.
