Overview :

BACKGROUND / PROJECT DESCRIPTION 

With the adoption of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, UNDP is prioritizing tailored support to national governments through its regional and country programmes to ensure that the Sustainable Development Goals are mainstreamed and implemented through the various national implementation frameworks. UNDP has the global mandate to support implementation of the SDG agenda at the country level, which is fully supported by Regional Bureaus.

SCOPE OF THE WORK

  1. Support implementation of the SDG regional project;
  2. Support the maintenance of strategic partnership and implement the resources mobilization strategy;
  3. Ensure efficient financial management, advocacy, programming, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and representation;
  4. Ensure Knowledge Building and dissemination.

EXPECTED OUTPUTS AND DELIVERABLES  

  1. Participate in substantive co-ordination, implementation meetings on the project on a Monthly basis;
  2. Development of an implementation plan and corresponding budget lines for the project within two weeks of signing of the contract;
  3. Follow up on implementation status of the project at the country level on a monthly basis, including writing up of periodic implementation reports;

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SUCCESSFUL INDIVIDUAL CONTRACTOR (IC)

a. Education:

  • Advanced University Degree in Development Economics, International Development, Development Studies, Business Administration or any related field.

b. Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years relevant experience working in the African region and on SDGs;
  • Prior experience working on the Post 2015 Development Agenda and the SDGs is required;
  • Experience in implementation of projects including project development and donor reporting from is desirable;
  • Familiarity with the UNDP/United Nations and RBA’s strategic partners;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.

c. Language:

  • Fluency in written English is required;
  • A working knowledge of French is desirable but not a requirement.

d. Functional Competencies:

  • Understands more advanced aspects of SDGs and its implementation modalities including country level challenges;
  • Keeps abreast of new developments in SDG implementation and seeks to develop him/herself professionally;
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of information technology and applies it in work assignments;
  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the current guidelines and project management tools and utilizes these regularly in work assignments;
  • Demonstrates substantive and technical knowledge to meet responsibilities and post requirements with excellence;

e. Core Competencies:

  • Demonstrates integrity by modelling the UN’s values and ethical standards
  • Promotes the vision, mission, and strategic goals of UNDP;
  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability
  • Treats all people fairly without favouritism;
  • Fulfils all obligations to gender sensitivity and zero tolerance for sexual harassment.

Please note that these proposals shall be submitted to the designated secured email into two files but in one email unless both Files are Greater than 9MB file size

IMPORTANT NOTE:

  • Failing to submit anyone of the documents stated above will automatically disqualify the candidate from further technical evaluation;
  • Those prospect consultants who fail to submit both Technical and Financial proposals as per the IC Proposal Submission Form and to the designated secured email will not be further considered for evaluation;
