Overview :

The new 2030 Global Agenda known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was adopted at the UN General Assembly by member states in September 2015. The SDGs will carry on the “unfinished business” of the MDGs and integrate the social, economic and environmental dimensions of sustainable development which were adopted as the Sustainable Development Goals during the final MDG summit in September this year. With 17 Goals and 169 Targets and 231 indicators, the SDGs will place enormous responsibilities on Government planners, policy makers, statisticians and implementing agencies in the Pacific to plan, implement, monitor and report. Capacity building support to Pacific Island Countries in terms Results Based Planning, Policy Formulation & Implementation and monitoring for Sustainable Development in needed.
While the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are universally applicable, “each government will also decide how these aspirational and global targets should be incorporated in national planning processes, policies, and strategies.” The Government of RMI under the leadership of the Economic Planning, Policy and Statistics Office (EPPSO) is committed to integrating the SDG agenda into national planning processes to support its development aspirations. The UNDP SDG localization project for RMI will provide TA support to the Government of RMI to undertake this.

The Consultant will be based at EPPSO and will report to the Director and the UNDP Inclusive Growth Deputy Team Leader based in Suva, Fiji. The consultant will work to develop capacity for the work directly to build capacity within Statistics Collection and Analysis Unit, and also coordinate with the Performance Monitoring, Evaluation and Aid Coordination Unit with regard to developing databases necessary to monitoring the SDGs and other required reporting.

Documentation required
Interested individual consultants must submit the following documents/information to demonstrate their qualifications:
• Letter of Confirmation of Interest and Availability using the template provided in Annex II.
• Personal CV and P11 (Annex I), indicating all past experience from similar projects, as well as the contact details (email and telephone number) of the Candidate and at least three (3) professional references.
• Financial proposal, as per template provided in Annex II. Note: Consultants must quote prices in United States Dollars (USD).
