| Overview : During the past decades, South-South Cooperation (SSC), a partnership among equals, based on solidarity and guided by the principles of respect for national sovereignty and ownership and free of any conditionality, has increasingly demonstrated their contribution to development results through a variety of flexible cooperation modalities including knowledge exchanges, technology transfers, financing, peer support, and neighbourhood initiatives, as well as countries forming common development agendas and seeking collective solutions. It has also become the expression of collaboration and partnership among countries from the South interested in sharing, learning, and exploring their complementary strengths to go beyond their traditional role as aid recipients. Knowledge sharing, one of the most dynamic dimensions of SSC, is complementing finance and technical assistance. In recent years, partnerships that involve SS & TrC have helped to diversify economies, going beyond government agencies and international organizations to include non-state actors and the private sector. South-South and Triangular Cooperation is also covering variety of sectors including agriculture, construction, education, energy, fisheries, forestry, environmental protection, governance, health, industry, natural resources, water and sanitation, infrastructure and services, and population policies (OECD, 2013), all of which could be relevant for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. UNDP is seeking the services of an expert consultant who has a very strong background in developing South-South and Triangular Cooperation strategies to support the Government of Botswana through its Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation (MIAC) develop the country’s South-South and Triangular Cooperation Strategy along with its costed implementation action plan and monitoring and evaluation framework. |
