Overview :

The United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Access to Justice and Rule of Law Project is contributing to a peacebuilding project for returnees in Rubkona, whih aims to address community and male and female youth grievances, and promote community cohesion initiatives at the local level, to create a culture of dialogue and tolerance. The project will increase access to justice for victims of the recent crisis through the provision of victim support groups to provide victims with information on their rights, print and distribute public outreach materials on transitional justice mechanisms through existing networks of community leaders.

The overall objective of the grant is to establish, support and coordinate a victims group in Rubkona to provide victims with information on their rights and the channels available to them to voice their grievances. This will contribute to a coordinated, holistic and victim-centred approach to support victims of conflict-related violence find justice; find (out what happened to) loved ones; treat physical injuries; recover from mental trauma; reconcile with perpetrators and other communities; and have access to livelihood opportunities and peer support networks.
