Overview : The United Nations Development Programme’s (UNDP) Access to Justice and Rule of Law Project is contributing to a peacebuilding project for returnees in Rubkona, which aims to address community and male and female youth grievances, and promote community cohesion initiatives at the local level, to create a culture of dialogue and tolerance. The project will increase access to justice for victims of the recent crisis through the provision of legal aid and advisory services through a Justice and Confidence Centre. The overall objective of the grant is to establish, support and coordinate a Justice and Confidence Centre in Rubkona. NGOs/CSOs/CBOs with an operational presence and capacities in Rubkona will be prioritized to establish and operate a JCC and carry out the following: - Provide basic legal information and pro bono legal services;
- Train community members and raise awareness on substantive land rights, human rights, women rights, and SGBV and constitutional/legal issues, carry out community awareness on access to justice and rule of law issues, provide psychosocial support to persons in detention and victims of SGBV;
- Promote alternative dispute resolution services such as mediation and reconciliation.
