Overview : The Government of Botswana in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Botswana Institute for Technology, Research and Innovation (BITRI) are implementing a Project titled “Promoting production and utilization of Biogas from Agro-waste in South-Eastern Botswana (Biogas Project)”. The Biogas project seeks to facilitate low-carbon investments and public-private partnerships in the production and utilization of biogas from agro-waste in the districts of South-eastern Botswana. The use of waste to generate energy (biogas) is an opportunity that Botswana must tap into. Various waste streams are available which can be utilized for generation of energy. Some of the agro-waste for consideration in biogas production include chicken manure, cow dung, piggery waste and goat/sheep droppings or any bio-waste available. In light of the above, UNDP and Partners in the Project are seeking to invite suitable Batswana individuals to express interest in the construction of the first 30 small scale biogas digesters (4-300m3) within the South-eastern Botswana (the exact specifications for the digesters are available and will be shared at the opportune time). |
