Overview : BACKGROUND The Guinea Current Large Marine Ecosystem (GCLME) extends from the Bijagos Archipelago (Guinea Bissau) in the north to Cape Lopez (Gabon) in the south. The ecosystem area is considered to include the exclusive economic zones of 16 countries, namely, Angola, Benin, Cameroon, Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Sierra Leone and Togo. The Guinea current region, and in particular its central part, faces a number of challenges involving population growth and urbanization, over fishing, water pollution, public health and sanitation, habitat degradation, coastal erosion, loss of biological diversity and land-use (e.g. conversion of mangroves, etc.). Many of the countries in the sub-region are oil producers, and the region is exposed to oil pollution. ........ SCOPE OF WORK Under the guidance and supervision of the International Consultant (GEF PPG Team Leader), the National Consultant shall lead information gathering and stakeholder consultation at the national level and provide technical inputs into the development of UNDP component report. S/he will work in collaboration with the Consultant on Gender and with the consultants responsible for the project components led by UNEP, UNIDO and FAO, when required ....................... EDUCATION - Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field, such as water or coastal management and environmental management.
EXPERIENCE - Minimum 7 years of demonstrable experience in the technical area of water, ocean or coastal management, international waters or related fields;
- Previous experience of working in the GCLME riparian countries in the international waters thematic area will be an asset
