UNDP Suriname invites interested companies to apply on the following:

Summary of proposal:

For the implementation of low- emission and climate resilient technology, US $600,000.00 has been made available to support the implementation of three government projects and three projects from CBO’s and NGO’s. The project proposal of the Ministry of Natural Resources (NH) titled: “Climate resilient access to drinking water for the Maroon community of Nw. Lombé, Brokopondo” has now been approved.

The target community Nw. Lombe (147 households) is a rural community in Brokopondo district, with limited access to safe drinking water. Villagers depend on a mostly broken water distribution system, as well as on rain and river water for drinking and household uses. Access to clean drinking water is jeopardized by pollution of nearby natural water bodies and changing rainfall patterns as a result of Climate Change. The project proposes completion of a water distribution system, which the GoS initiated but could not complete in 2012 and the development of a new water well. The works are expected to start at the second week of July whereas the deadline for submitting quotations will be June 26th,2018.

The Contractor shall provide the following services:

  • Provision of a finalized schedule of works with detailed timelines and milestones for each stage of the work to be undertaken
  • Technical recommendations for the installation of the well
  • Provision of required materials and equipment for on-site installation including site preparation
  • Construction of the well and supporting infrastructure in accordance to the engineer drawings and specifications provided
  • A pressure test for the whole distribution system

Outputs:

  • Successful establishment of new potable water well at Nw. Lombe, Brokopondo
  • Completed water distribution system from the well to the tower and from there to the households

The potable water well and the distribution system should be finalized within 40 working days
