Overview :

Background

Waste management has become a development challenge in most developing countries of which Ghana is no exception. Aside the environmental challenges it creates, inefficient waste management in our cities and communities exposes people to a myriad of health risks, creates high risks of environmental degradation and exposes natural resources like and water bodies to degradation and reduction in quality. Amidst these challenges however, there exist opportunities that could be exploited to turn waste into resource to create employment and contribute to economic growth whiles reducing and possibly eliminating the challenges posed by waste pollution

SCOPE OF WORK

Following the launch of this initiative in July 2018, there is the need to begin the implementation of key activities to ensure that the initiative’s deliverables are achieved in time. In the first phase and second phases of this initiative, key activities will be the coordination and facilitation of technical working group meetings, data collection, the development of website and mobile application, training of key stakeholders on the use of the mobile application and website to be developed, and the selection of pilot demonstration businesses through a national competition. The Consultant shall therefore provide technical support throughout this period with the view of ensuring that activities are in line with the initiative’s objectives and expected outputs. Specifically, the Consultant shall perform the following tasks

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as Sanitation Management, Environmental Science and Resource Efficiency.

EXPERIENCE

Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience in the technical area of waste valorisation and sanitation management;

Previous experience related to researching sanitation management and waste valorisation opportunities in a developing country;

The Consultant is required to have the above mentioned professional and technical qualifications. Only the applicants who hold these qualifications are advised to submit their respective bid proposals

The following proposals must be prepared as per the prescribed standard format indicated in the respective IC Bid Document. The Proposals shall be submitted before its deadline on October 26, 2018  via UNDP Ghana Secured mail address: bids.gh@undp.org
