Overview : The purpose of this political economy study is to identify the most strategic opportunities, possible entry-points, for the UN to support the process of change proposed by the new Administration and to effectively support the achievement of Botswana’s national development priorities and SDGs. Dynamic change is keeping with evolving events is key to development. Therefore, there is a need to understand the factors that can promote or block change in the economy. By revealing the political, economic and social interests and incentives that promote or block pro-poor change, the PEA will provide insight into how positive change can happen, where the obstacles lie, and how to address them. The study will also analyse the power relationships, between the State, social groups and individuals, and/or between the State, market forces and civil society. It will consider factors that either contribute to or limit active civic engagement in issues at the national and sub-national levels and how this might be overcome. |
