Overview : The Consultant Writer is responsible for: Meet with Prisons officials, particularly the Director General of the Prisons Service, the Director Administrator of the Prisons Service, the heads of each of the Prisons; Arranging dates, times and travel to visit each of the prisons in agreement with the Gambia Prisons Service; Briefing prison officials and personnel and prisoners on the scope and purpose of work; Ensuring that all persons or children interviewed are requested beforehand and provide written informed consent to be written about and published in a Photobook; Please note: To interview children under 18 years old, explicit parental or tutorial consent must be sought. The Consultant Writer is required to provide consent forms compliant with UN Guidelines on interviewing children; The writer is requested to ask permission and obtain a signed informed consent form when interviewing the persons or situations described under the deliverables; The Writer Consultant will draft a Rapid Prisons Assessment and submit it for review to the CTA and The Gambia Prisons Service (GPS); The Writer Consultant after discussion with the GPS and CTA will make any needed revisions; The Writer Consultant will coordinate with the Photographer (if they are present) to ensure the RPA Report and accompanying Photobook are in alignment and quotes from interviews can be used for the Photobook; The Writer Consultant will provide a final RPA Report based on feedback and edits from the CTA in hard and soft copies.
The Consultant Photographer/Videographer is responsible for: Meet with Prisons officials, particularly the Director General of the Prisons Service, the Director Administrator of the Prisons Service, the heads of each of the Prisons; Arranging dates, times and travel for photographing each of the prisons in agreement with the Gambia Prisons Service; Briefing prison officials and personnel and prisoners on the scope and purpose of work; Ensuring that all persons or children photographed are requested beforehand and provide written informed consent to be photographed and published in a Photobook; Please note: To photograph children under 18 years old, explicit parental or tutorial consent must be sought. The photographer is required to provide signed consent forms for all children following UNFPA guidelines; The photographer is requested to ask permission and obtain a signed informed consent form when photographing the persons or situations described under the deliverables; High resolution jpeg or raw files (300 dpi at 2610 x 3900 pixels) photos of the Prisons; Each photo should be edited and include the data noted under Section 3 Scope of Work;
The following areas and topics of the Prisons must be part of the submitted photographs in order to correlate with the RPA Report: Security of the Prisons (security personnel, infrastructure, equipment) Administration (Intake desk, records keeping facilities) Hygiene & Sanitation Medical Facilities Juveniles in Detention and children accompanying mothers Mentally Ill*
*As with the case for juveniles and all detained persons, the photographer must obtain informed written consent before photographing. |
