Overview : To support the efforts of the Government of Morocco to create new and alternative paths for young people’s employment and social engagement, a Youth Innovation Summit will be held in autumn 2019 with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA)/the Danish Arab Partnership Programme (DAPP). The Summit will gather young talents from Morocco and the region (110 from Morocco and 10 from the region) for five days to discuss development challenges and create new solutions towards youth employment, entrepreneurship and empowerment. The Summit consists of two core elements: an Innovation Lab and a Public Diplomacy Festival. The four-day Innovation Lab will be held for young talents from Morocco and the region. The Lab will be a tailored process of innovation led by experienced facilitators and supported by experts. On the last day of the Summit, a one-day Youth Dialogue Festival will be held, open for everyone. During the festival, the most compelling solutions from the Innovation Lab will be presented. In addition, there will be keynote speeches, workshops, and policy debate panels. The Youth Innovation Summit combines UNDP’s and the Danish MFA’s/DAPP’s insights into the challenges of the SDGs and experience from supporting youth innovation and employment in the region. In addition, the Summit will draw upon knowledge from carefully selected experts and facilitators from the region. DAPP is Denmark’s collaboration programme with the Middle East and North Africa. The programme helps to strengthen good governance and ensure economic opportunities, especially for young people and women in the region, through partnerships. Countries of focus are Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Jordan. DAPP places youth at its very core – not only as beneficiaries, but also as active, innovative, and critical agents of change. |
