| Overview : Description of the assignment The Electoral Support Project (ESP) has been supporting the Election Commission, Nepal (ECN) in media-related activities since 2008. As ECN explores digital spaces to enhance its outreach work it approved continued ESP support in this area. The Internet has facilitated interaction between the general public, electoral management bodies, government, the media and other stakeholders throughout the electoral cycle. In Nepal, Internet penetration currently stands at 63 per cent, adding 2.5 million users within a year. This reasserts the growing importance of digital spaces and the need for institutions to engage with social media. The ECN is keen on continuing to use traditional media as well as social media to reach current and future voters. It wants to use new technology to improve the electoral system for good governance. In order to support the ECN in the social media field, ESP is hiring a social media consultant. The objective of the consultancy is for ECN to make its presence in social media more effective and to take full advantage of social media networks for its outreach and external relations.
