Overview : Project: Strengthening human resources, legal frameworks and institutional capacities to implement the Nagoya Protocol Re-Advertisement - National Consultant or consultants from media company to raise and increase awareness of specific areas under the ABS Project in Seychelles Background The Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization (ABS), an agreement under the Convention on Biological Diversity, was adopted on 29 October 2010 in Nagoya (Japan) and entered into force on 12 October 2014. The Republic of Seychelles is a Party to the Nagoya Protocol since its entry into force (ratification) on October 12, 2014. The UNDP-GEF Project “Strengthening human resources, legal frameworks, and institutional capacities to implement the Nagoya Protocol” (Global ABS Project) is a 3-year project that specifically aims at assisting 24 countries in the development and strengthening of their national ABS frameworks, human resources, and administrative capabilities to implement the Nagoya Protocol. The national consultant will develop a communications strategy for MEECC, develop outreach materials, and conduct awareness raising training. The consultant must ensure to use public media where necessary and needs to consult with the National Project Coordinator for activities that need project funds such as radio spots, printing of materials etc. The consultant shall work in close coordination with the IC and project country team in Seychelles. Duration of the work The assignment will be for a maximum of 40 days over 4 months Duty Station The Contractor will be based in Seychelles and the assignment will not involve any travel outside Seychelles.
