TERMS OF REFERENCE  FOR PROVISION    OF AMBULANCE    SERVICES TO THE  UN  IN UGANDA

 

1.    SCOPE OF WORK

 

Obligations    of the Ambulance    Service   Provider

 

i). The Ambulance   Service provider   will provide the following   services to the UN Agencies, UN Staff members and their eligible dependents   when contacted   by the UN Clinic or Administrator    of any UN

Agency.

a.

Road Ambulance

services within   Kampala.

b.

Road Ambulance

services from upcountry   locations to Kampala.

c.   Road Ambulance   services during UN functions/events    e.g., Conferences, sports, High level

visiting UN personnel or delegations.

d.    Arrange/provide     air Ambulance   evacuations     with reputable   firms from Upcountry   to Kampala. e.    Arrange/   provide air Ambulance   evacuations from Kampala to destinations   outside the Country (Nairobi, or Johannesburg).

 

ii). The Ambulance   service provider   should guarantee operational   agreements   with reliable Air or Road Ambulance   service providers for the period of the LTA.

 

iii). The Ambulance   service provider   should ensure that the Ambulance crew is experienced   and professional.

 

iv). The Ambulance   service provider   should ensure timely and efficient   response when contacted.

v). The Ambulance   service provider   will issue a price list for their services once annually.

Obligations    of the UN

 

a.   The UN Physician/Nurse   on duty will liaise directly with the Ambulance   service providers to request Emergency Ambulance   services.

b.   The UN Physician on duty will be the official contact person on behalf of all UN Agencies in the Administration    of the   Ambulance   LTA.

c.    The UN Agencies for which Ambulance   services are provided will ensure that the bills

accruing from the service are paid not later than 2 months from the provision of the services.

d.   The UN Agencies will help recover costs incurred by individual staff members or their eligible dependents   for whom Ambulance   services have been provided   not  later than  2 months.

e.    The UN will ensure security escorts where necessary.

f.      The UN is at Liberty to utilize other Ambulance service providers and does not warrant the volume of work to be rendered to the service providers.
