B. Background The Sustainable Development Unit of Timor-Leste is currently implementing several projects on sustainable energy, climate change, biodiversity conservation and disaster response. There are also a number of projects and initiatives in pipeline and under implementation including the Timor-Leste-Jeju Friendship Forest initiative (3rd phase expected to start from beginning of August 2019), the first of its kind in Timor-Leste under the UNDP-GEF Sustainable Bio-energy Promotion for Timor-Leste (SBEPB) project. In addition, the Rio Conventions cross cutting capacity development project which is entirely based on capacity building issues of government and non-government stakeholders on environmental conventions has also recently started. Description of Responsibilities: The principal responsibility of the international junior consultant is to help the PMU to implement the third phase of the Jeju-Timor-Leste Friendship forest initiative and supporting capacity building initiatives of the SBEPB project. |
