Background 

Call for Expressions of Interest, UNDP Information Disclosure Oversight Panel. 

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the development programme of the United Nations system that is on the ground in about 170 countries and territories, with its headquarters in New York, USA. 

Since the first Information Disclosure Policy (the Policy) was approved in January 1997, UNDP has remained committed to making information about its programmes and operations available to the public.  The Policy has been updated in the past years, and the last revision took place in July 2019.  

The Panel is composed of members, reflecting different sectors and independent to UNDP. Members are not remunerated, participation is based upon the good-will of the Panel member and her/his desire to contribute to transparency. Meetings are to be conducted virtually or in situ, as agreed by the Panel members.  

UNDP is calling for expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to serve in this decision-making Panel.

Required Skills and Experience 

Applicants should have relevant advanced professional qualifications and significant senior-level experience for at least ten (10) years in a) access to information or freedom of information laws, regulations or policies, b) administrative law and/or c) any other experience deemed relevant for the task.  

Applicants should be able to demonstrate ability to formulate impartial judgment in complex and sensitive cases, and to make decisions and/or develop recommendations based on systematic analysis and sound judgment in a timely and constructive manner.
