Overview : UNDP and UNEP have supported national efforts on inclusive and sustainable poverty reduction under the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS) through the UNDP/UNEP Poverty and Environment Initiative (PEI) since 2005. The PEI Project aim was to enhance the contribution of sound environmental management to poverty reduction, sustainable economic growth and achievement of MDGs. Phase II (2010-2011) supported the integration of environment into national policy and district planning, policy and budget processes to implement the EDPRS. The focus was on longer term capacity development to more fully integrate environmental sustainability in development planning and investment at national, sector and decentralized levels in the context of EDPRS implementation and monitoring. The current project (2012-2013) builds on the achievements of Phase I and II and aims to enhance the contribution of sound environmental management to poverty reduction, sustainable economic growth and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. It is in this context that UNDP is seeking the services of an Individual Consultant to undertake the assignment.
