The Vice President's Office, a National Climate Change Focal Point and coordinator of climate change activities in the United Republic of Tanzania, in collaboration with UNDP, is implementing a project named "Integrating Climate Change Adaptation into Tanzania's Planning Processes." The project is a three-year project (2022–2024) funded by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The overarching objective of this project is to strengthen Tanzania's adaptive and resilience capacity by facilitating the integration of climate change adaptation into Tanzania’s planning processes. The project objective is to be achieved through three interconnected outcomes:
i) Adaptation planning, governance, and institutional coordination were strengthened.
ii) The evidence bases for developing adaptation solutions has been expanded, and
iii) A national adaptation plan was developed and validated.
Implementation of this project is envisaged to overcome the widespread problem of inadequate integration of climate risks and adaptation measures in Tanzania's national and sectoral development plans. This assignment focuses on Sub-Outcome 2.2: Climate information is centralized and accessible to stakeholders. This sub-outcome will enhance and enable adaptation planning by centralizing climate information and making it readily available to government planners and other non-government stakeholders. Training on content management and utilization of the portal will drive usage and an ongoing population of information. The activities on sub-outcome 2.2 are as follows:
· 2.1: Procurement of data management equipment and training of IT personnel
· 2.2: Design and establish an information and knowledge management system to inform adaptation planning and
· 2.3: Conduct training workshops on content management and the use of the portal.
