Introduction :

Civil Society Organization (CSO) Engagement Strategy Development.

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) with support from the European Union, along with UNDP and UNICEF in Sri Lanka launched a multi-year Support to Justice Sector – JURE Project in February 2022. JURE contains a holistic package of support to the justice sector in Sri Lanka. It will be implemented in close consultation and partnership with key justice sector stakeholders.

CSOs are crucial for the functioning of rule of law and democracy and play a vital role in achieving the SDGs by connecting with communities and advocating for marginalized groups. In particular, their impact on SDG 16 is significant. UNDP has worked closely with CSOs to improve access to justice and is seeking a service provider to develop a CSO strategy that strengthens engagement with justice sector institutions and enhances access to justice for all, including women, children, and persons with disabilities.

OBJECTIVE AND SCOPE OF INTERVENTION

The scope of services associated with this assignment can be broadly categorized as follows.

1. Conduct a study and analysis of CSOs that are actively working in the law and policy reform to promote access to justice (Assessment and identification of CSOs).

2. Develop the CSO engagement strategy outlining potential engagement and collaboration between the justice sector institutions and CSOs.

3. Based on the CSO engagement strategy, to develop an action plan to achieve the targets identified in the CSO engagement strategy.
