Introduction :

Introduction

Tyefu is an area situated within the jurisdiction of the Ngqushwa Local Municipality of the Amathole District in the Eastern Cape Province bordered by the Great Fish River to the west and the Keiskamma River to the east. The Tyefu community consists of 10 villages that is under jurisdiction of and part of Chief Sizwe Msutu’s land. Aloe ferox occurs naturally in the wild in this region. However, due to the rough terrain, local harvesters struggle to maintain a sustainable supply and engage in unsustainable harvesting practices that compromises the survival of the plant in the wild. The residents from the villages comprising the Tyefu community have all showed an interest in the cultivation, sustainable harvesting, and basic processing of the natural resource of Aloe ferox.

The DFFE assisted the community with the development of a Business Plan which looks at the Aloe ferox commercialisation venture in a 3 phased journey, namely, 1) identification, design and establish cultivation sites within the Tyefu community; 2) Design and establish a nursery and basic processing facility for the processing and sustainability of Aloe ferox; 3) Develop market and retailer relevant Aloe ferox containing products. The current TOR focuses on the implementation of phase 1 and 2 above. The DFFE will make the Business plan available to the successful bidder for the current ToR.

Interested suppliers must submit their offer directly in the system as instructed in the solicitation document, following the instructions in the available user guide. n case you have never registered before, you can register a profile using the registration link shared via the procurement notice and following the instructions in the guides available in UNDP website:  https://www.undp.org/procurement/business/resources-for-bidders.
