Description of the Assignment:

Adaptation Initiative for Climate Vulnerable Offshore Small Islands and Riverine Char land in Bangladesh" is a project implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh following UNDP's National Implementation Modality. It's a five-year project that started in January 2023 and is financed by the Adaptation Fund. The main objective of the project is to enhance the climate resilience of vulnerable communities who live on coastal islands and riverine chars in Bangladesh. This initiative is part of UNDP's continuous effort to achieve Sustainable Development Goals and eradicate poverty and inequality and tackle the dual threats of climate change and natural disasters.

The project will initiate to retrofit  900 climate-vulnerable existing houses of the low income communities to make them climate resilient along with that, the project also entails construction of 20 Cluster houses. The objective of the consultancy is to provide technical support in designing Cluster or mini-Shelter houses and providing retrofitting designs for climate-resilient building structures (3 types) for vulnerable low income communities.


Period of assignment/services:  60 working days over a period of 4 months on an intermittent basis (1 June 2023 to 30 September 2023) - Tentative
