Introduction : UNDP is implementing the project “Reduction and elimination of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and other chemical releases through implementation of environmentally sound management of E-Waste, healthcare waste and priority Unintentional POPs release sources associated with general waste management activities” in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and other stakeholders. The project aims to avoid the releases of Unintentional POPs, Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and CO2, contributing at the same time to the development of the waste circular economy elements based on the 3Rs (Reduce, Re-use, Recycle) approach principles. This assignment’s objectives are to implement a conventional access control system (fence and gates) at Aqaba landfill site to prevent/reduce potential of the open burning of waste. In addition to that, a separate fencing protecting a thermal imaging cameras system for fire detection in the landfill will be installed, with a prefab for the system control IT equipment.
