Overview :

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the UN’s global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in nearly 170 countries and territories, working with governments and people on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. As they develop local capacity, they draw on the people of UNDP and our wide range of partners that can bring about results.

The UNDP country office in South Africa supports the government of South Africa in achieving its development goals outlined in the National Development Plan 2030 as well as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The UNDP country office’s activities are guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (2020-2025), the UNDP Strategic Plan (2018-2021), and the UNDP South Africa Country Programme Document (2020-2025). The UNDP’s country programmes seek to contribute to South Africa’s social and economic transformational aspirations from policy support to programme implementation.

The Inclusive Growth & Development Programme aims to support government efforts by setting up platforms that promote self-employment in rural areas and townships and small business incubation centres to provide youth-driven start-ups with financial and technical advice.
