The UNDP in Tanzania is implementing a project to support establishment and consolidation of a local chapter of the UN Global Compact in Tanzania, aiming to encourage the adoption of socially responsible practices in Tanzania.

Global Compact Network Tanzania plays a role to raise awareness of businesses and non-businesses on the benefits of operating in a responsible way, adhering and reporting on the Ten UN global compact principles while advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Global Compact Network Tanzania (GCNT) concluded its first 4-year strategic plan in December 2019 that has been implemented since 2016 -2019.

Over the years, the Global Compact Network Tanzania (GCNT) which is multi stakeholder’s platform which brings together private sector, the public, UN agencies and civil society organizations (CSOs) with a focus on promoting sustainability, good governance and fighting corruption in Tanzania; has worked on several interventions using different approaches in line with the key focus areas i.e. Human rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-corruption.

The GCNT mainly partakes in public sensitization and mobilization, training and capacity building as well as advocating for social accountability in line with its four pillars namely; Human Rights, Labor, Environment and Anti-corruption alongside the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
