Grant application

The UN Development Program invites local NGOs operating in Syunik and Gegharkunik marzes of Armenia to participate in a bidding competition to support the resumption or development of agricultural small and micro-entrepreneurial activities / businesses in Syunik and Gegharkunik regions by socially vulnerable individuals or families.

The grant competition is announced under the United Nations Development Program “Our Lives: Our Future. Supporting Self Recovery and Resilience of Conflict Affected Communities in Armenia” project funded by the European Union Humanitarian Assistance (hereinafter referred to as the Project).

Summary:

The project intends to provide a competitive grant to local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) up to $ 105,000 (one-hundred five thousand) in Syunik region (particularly in the Goris, Sisian and Kapan regions), and up to $ 45,000 (forty five thousand) in Gegharkunik region (particularly in Vardenis, Chambarak, Martuni regions) to carry out the following activities, pursuing the following objectives:

  • Support the resumption or development of non-agricultural micro-entrepreneurship or individual / family / entrepreneurship by socially vulnerable, or internally displaced individuals or families, providing each with up to $1,500 in property, assistance or grants (targeting far-flung regions),

It is envisaged that this process should be carried out through local non-governmental organizations operating in Syunik marz (particularly in Goris, Sisian, Kapan regions), Gegharkunik marz (particularly Vardenis, Chambarak, Martuni regions) or in the mentioned areas, involving, if necessary, official and informal representatives of local communities. The grant process should focus on inclusion, in particular involving women with disabilities, as well as low-income and socially vulnerable people displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh , living in border, remote, rural areas.

 

 

About the project:

In addition to the above objectives, the grant program also aims to promote the long-term capacity of local NGOs in Syunik and Gegharkunik marzes.

Project initial maximum and tentative duration is from April 15, 2022 – November 1, 2022.

The selection process will be held in one stage:

  1. To ensure transparency of consideration and approval of project proposals, a Grant Evaluation Commission for the evaluation of grant projects (GEC) formed from representatives of UNDP and specialists/experts, local and regional administrations.
  2. The GEC is the authorized body responsible for the consideration, selection and decision-making on the project proposals received.
  3. The selection and approval of the project proposal as the winner of the grant will be carried out in one stage during the meeting of the GEC.
  4. One bidder can be selected as a winner to implement activities in Gegharkunik region, and two bidders can be selected to implement activities in Syunik area.
  5. The final decision on the award of the grant is made by the UNDP management based on the results of GEC.

Applications may be submitted by applicants who meet the following criteria:

• The grant applicant must be a local non-governmental organization operating in Syunik marz (preferably in Goris, Sisian or Kapan regions) or in Gegharkunik marz or with significant representation in these areas.

• The applicant can apply for a grant to be implemented in either Syunik or Vardenis region. The same applicant cannot apply for a grant for both regions. Together with the main applicant, there may also be a partner NGO, who will be responsible for a specific action, about which the Applicant must inform in its application.

• The grant applicant must have at least 1 year of proven work experience in providing and managing small entrepreneurship grants in Syunik Marz or Gegharkunik Marz.

• The applicant must have 1 year of work experience working with displaced persons and socially vulnerable groups in Syunik and / or Gegharkunik.

• The applicant must have at least 3 years of work experience in project implementation, donor grants, budget management, monitoring, and public relations reports in Syunik and / or Gegharkunik marzes.

• Description of work with the beneficiaries of the border settlements of the respective regions should be in the application;

• Applicant should present actions in the application that provide specific mentoring to the beneficiaries in the field of narrow business activities or general entrepreneurship.

• Application must showcase how it targets women/girls and most vulnerable groups.

• The project application should be prepared in strict accordance with the format, and the information presented is complete, accurate and clear.

The followings have to be submitted to the Grant committee by the deadline:

  1. A project application filled out in the format (Annex 1);
  2. A copy of a registration certificate of an applicant organization;
  3. A copy of a charter of an applicant organization;
  4. A document from a bank on AMD account indicating all the necessary data such as the name of the organization, account, BIC, currency, etc., signed and stamped by the bank;
  5. Originals/copies of documents issued by the relevant competent authorities confirming that the organization has no current debts in the social fund and tax authorities of Armenia;
  6. CVs of Director and other key personal to be engaged in implementation of the project;
  7. 2 references from past partners or donors.
  8. Short info on the previously implemented projects- including project donor, purposes, goals, budget, dates, main results.
  9. Other information, documents and attachments- optional.

The applicants must submit their proposals as one zipped folder via e-mail to undp.recovery.project@gmail.com with topic named “02-2022-Grant-UNDP-Self Recovery-Grants Proposal” before 23:59 on 24 February 2022.
