Overview : The Ministry of Economic Planning and Development wishes to engage a consultant to review the functionality of Sector Working Groups (SWGs) in Malawi. Government of Malawi established 16 SWGs as a mechanism to facilitate the involvement of development partners, private sector and civil society organizations (CSOs) in the country’s development programming processes. In 2012, the Government reviewed the Development Assistance Strategy (DAS) and established that SWGs have not evolved as planned and have not been well coordinated from central institutions. Due to the importance of the SWGs in the development of this country, it was recommended that they should be revitalized on the basis of a thorough review whose findings should feed into implementation arrangements for the next Development Cooperation Strategy (DCS) for 2014-2018, among other things. |
